Easy Front Door Makeover
I have a weird affinity for my front door. I just relly love it, you guys. When we first moved into our house, it was a standard white exterior door, with (old, dirty, ugly) gold hardware. And it stayed that way for a LOOOOOOONG time, until one day not too long ago, I got tired of looking at it and decided it was time to do something about it. All it took was a little paint and some new hardware to bring new life to the front of our house!
The first thing I did was paint it. I REALLY wanted to paint it either aqua or magenta, but since the rest of our house is light blue, it wouldn't have looked right, so I settled on navy. The dark color gives our front door some contrast to the rest of our house without being like, whoa! And, as it turns out, the navy color is really good at hiding dirt and scuff marks (who knew, right?).
I had been wanting to add some sort of greeting phrase to our door for a while, so once the base was dry, I made a stencil using my Cricut and used it to paint the word "hello" near the door knob. Then we changed out the old, gold hardware for some new brass-finished hardware, and voila! A brand new look for our front door.
We are slowly creeping into fall around here- my favoite season and the one I most enjoy decorating for- and I really love how those fall colors pop against the navy of our door!
